Becks’ life turns into a satirical stage show

Becks’ life turns into a satirical stage show

London, July 04: ‘MacBecks’ is one play that David Beckham and wife Victoria might want to keep away from, especially as it happens to be a satirical comedy musical on their life.

The play follows in the footsteps of ‘I Keano’, the spoof about footballer Roy Keane’s walk-out from the Irish World Cup squad.

Gary Cooke and Malachy McKenna, who acted in ‘I Keano’, have penned the script for ‘MacBecks’, which as director Ronan Smith reveals, borrows from Shakespeare’s play MacBeth and others.

“We’re very excited by the script – it’s a wild comedy romp that borrows from Shakespeare’s Macbeth, King Lear, Romeo And Juliet, as well as Cyrano de Bergerac,” the Daily Express quoted Smith, as saying.

The show is being staged by Long Road Productions, and opens in January 2009.

Posh will be portrayed as an ambitious Lady Macbeth for whom husband David sacrifices his career.

Other characters appearing in the musical will include former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson, Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson and Beckham’s former PA and alleged ex-lover Rebecca Loos.
