New Delhi, Aug 18: Music lovers were today left spellbound when senior parliamentarian Karan Singh displayed his singing talent lending his voice to a few classical and folk songs here.
At a function organised to launch the audio album based on his geet and ghazals, Singh sang the classical and Dogri songs that he had learnt from his mother during childhood.

It was a blend of passion and memories that came alive in his song, "Bijiliyan baras rahe hayn kya kare, woh hame tadpa rahe hayn kya kare".

He also presented a few Dogri songs which are known for their unique style. The audience were mesmerised when the veteran politician performed with elegance.

"I learnt `pahadi` songs from my mother who was from a village in Himachal. I also learnt the Hindustani classical music from a few gurus during my childhood," he said.

Apart from his love for classical and `dogree` songs, Singh has much fascination for rock music. He listens rock music for one to one-and-half-an-hour everyday.

"Some people ask me how can I love classical and rock music at the same time. I tell them that music is the word of God. So where is the discrimination? Songs will stay till the end of life," he said.

Among Singh`s preferred rock stars are Madonna, Billy Joel, Whitney Houston and Dire Straits.

Singh, however, does not like Bollywood music which he describes as a mixture many things.

The parliamentarian has already given his voice in two albums on Dogri songs which were produced about 20 years ago.

"After a gap of 20 years, I am again singing with the release of this album," he said.
