New Orleans, Sept 04: ‘Rising Water’, the drama which is set to be staged this Friday at the Unicorn Theatre, is the story of a New Orleans couple who one day wake up to a shock that their house is rapidly filling with floodwater. The play is about how they strive to deal with the situation and take shelter in the attic, and eventually on the roof.
When ‘Rising Water’ did its world premiere last year at Southern Rep in New Orleans, it became hard to think of another play that could really connect with its audience so intimately, so immediately.
The most distinctive fact about this one is that everybody in the house- including the writer, the director, the actors, and the audience had either experienced what the characters on stage were portraying or was aware of somebody who had.
Danny Cox and Merle Moores play the New Orleans couple who struggle to take refuge somewhere amidst Katrina floodwaters rising.
